Global/Multi-jurisdictional Representations

SDR frequently handles complex matters where our representation of a client simultaneously involves federal, state, and administrative aspects. Whether a client faces parallel criminal and civil health care, tax, or securities investigations, SDR lawyers have the experience to manage all facets of such global inquiries.

REPRESENTATIVE CASES

SDR currently represents a key employee of BP in connection with the tragic events on the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico. This representation includes numerous inquiries, including representation before the Coast Guard/Department of the Interior Deepwater Horizon Joint Investigation, Congressional inquiries, the Multi-District litigation matter pending in the Eastern District of Louisiana, and Department of Justice probes.

SDR represented one of two joint venture partners responsible for oversight of the design and construction of one of the country’s most challenging infrastructure projects, the underground placement of the interstate highway that runs through central Boston, commonly known as the “Big Dig.” A civil resolution of all aspects of the investigation was negotiated with the United States Attorney and Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

SDR represented an executive of a multinational bank and brokerage firm in various matters arising from allegations of market timing by various mutual funds. Our representation encompassed dealings with the SEC and other government authorities, defense of our client in multiple class actions which were consolidated into a Multi-District Litigation, and civil employment matters.
